SI, LU OUT OF OPEN, NISHIKORI AND NAZIM-DAVYDENKO SET FOR DAY 2

The first day of the ATP 250 World Tour Malaysian Open, Kuala Lumpur 2010 main draw saw both Malaysian hopeful Si Yew Ming and Asian number one Lu Yen-Hsen crash out in the first round here at the Putra Stadium in Bukit Jalil.

The top Malaysian tennis player went up 2-0 early in the match much to the joy of the local crowd, but had little more in his arsenal to challenge a determined 2009 Junior number one Yuki Bhambri of India as he was defeated comprehensively 6-2, 6-0 in just 46 mins.

"I started off well I think, but then Bhambri started playing really well, and I just couldn't hold my serve," said a dejected Yew Ming.

Bhambri will play either play fifth seed David Ferrer of Spain or wild card Australian Bernard Tomic in the next round, but had no favourites.

LOCAL CHAMP YEW MING FACES UP TO BHAMBRI

Action at the Malaysian Open, Kuala Lumpur 2010 ATP 250 World Tour is set to heat up tomorrow as the first round of the Men's Singles main draw gets underway here at the Putra Stadium in Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur.

Malaysia's number one Si Yew Ming, who was given a late wild card entry into the main draw yesterday, will play another wild card, 18-year-old former World Junior number one Yuki Bhambri of India in Monday evening sesssion last match on Centre Court.

"I'm going to try my best to adapt and hope to put into practice the new things I've learnt," said the 31-year-old Johor born lad, who only recently returned from a training stint at the Albert Portas training academy in Barcelona with fellow Malaysian counterpart Nazim Khan. Nazim will also see Main Draw action as he is paired with defending champion Nikolay Davydenko in the men's doubles competition.

Indian born and bred Yuki Bhambri began playing tennis at the age of 6 and currently trains full time at the IMG Bollettieri Tennis Academy in Florida.

Bhambri won various titles and has participated in numerous international events before turning to professional in 2009. His significant victories include: The Asian Juniors Championships in Bangkok, The Asian Championship at Colombo, Sri Lanka, The DSCL National Series (under 14), National Championship (under 16) at Delhi, Nike Juniors at Delhi and the Adidas National at Chennai. Bhambri was also the winner of the prestigious Orange Bowl title in 2008 (considered the official Word Championships).

The Official Entry List & Doubles Main Draw Wild-Card Team Announced

The full 2010 ATP World Tour entry list was presented to the media. This list features 19 names who receive direct entry into the tournament based on rankings. Nine of the names were already announced at the launch press conference. In addition to the 19 now confirmed players, there will be four qualifiers as a result of the qualifying tournament, three main-draw wild cards to be announced later and then there are two special exempt slots held in case players who were planning to play qualifiers reach the Final of the ATP World Tour tournament the previous week. If this is not the case, these two slots will go to the next highest ranked players on the entry list. Total 28 player singles main draw.
