Nick Freyer has 20 years of Asian sports and entertainment marketing and management experience and has been with IMG since 1995. Prior to working at IMG, he spent five years marketing sponsorship and organising tennis events in Asia (as a student he worked for many years as a ballboy), including the first ATP Tour events in Asia in 1990. With an honours degree in Sports Marketing & Management from Loughborough University (UK), he has lived in the China region for more than 40 years. Mr. Freyer is Senior Vice President and Head of Tennis, Asia, with IMG and a Tournament Director. He was also the creator and Executive Race Director for eight years (China/Malaysia) of the IMG owned Mild Seven Outdoor Quest, the richest Adventure Race in the world and in 2002 co-founded the Hainan Discovery Triathlon, the leading triathlon at the time in China. When New Balance, the Boston based manufacturer of athletic shoes sought to expand their Asian marathon sponsorship presence, Mr. Freyer's experience helped them secure sponsorships of marathons in Singapore, Seoul and Hong Kong. Mr. Freyer was involved with the Beijing Olympic Bid Committee (BOBICO) being a point-man for IMG's work as Global Marketing Consultants to BOBICO. Mr. Freyer is currently responsible for IMG's Tennis business in Asia working on tennis events throughout the region and supporting the Asian business interests of IMG clients that include Maria Sharapova, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Venus Williams. His many years of industry experience has meant he has been involved in the marketing of a number of event firsts which include Maria Sharapova's first visits to China, Thailand, Korea and Hong Kong, the creation of China's first adventure race and the historic 2007 matches between Roger Federer and Pete Sampras which took place in Seoul, Kuala Lumpur and Macao, and the Vanetian Macao Tennis Showdown events in 2008 and 2009 which featured Roger Federer, John McEnroe, Bjorn Borg and James Blake (2008) and Andre Agassi and Pete Sampras (2009). In addition to directing the Malaysian Open, Kuala Lumpur, he is also the Tournament Director of the Chengdu Open, an ATP Champions Tour tournament. Nick loves to play tennis as well as photograph tennis, ride his bike in the early hours on the crazy roads of Hong Kong and travel to far flung places with his wife, to film underwater life with his favorite subjects being schooling hammerhead sharks, manta rays, humpback whales and whalesharks.
Doris Chan - Tournament Administration & Finance Director
Doris Chan, Vice President, IMG Tennis, Asia, has fifteen years of event management and client service experience in the Asian region and speaks fluent Mandarin, Cantonese and English. Before joining IMG in 1998, Doris worked for four years at the Hong Kong Badminton Association where she was Chief Sports Executive. She was also the General Manager, based in Beijing, of the CNBA Chinese Basketball League. At IMG, Doris was the Project Director of the highly successful Mild Seven Outdoor Quest adventure race for seven years where her duties included servicing sponsors, event financial control, liaison with technical experts, athletes, local and provincial government, television production logistics and management of an event staff of over 60 people. Recently, Doris was the Project Director of the Deutsche Bank Invitational with Maria Sharapova, the Manchester United Asia Tour - Beijing, Venetian Macao Tennis Showdown in Macao (2007 to 2009) and the China Open ATP/WTA tennis event where she heads up the IMG team that consults to the event in Beijing. Doris understands sports marketing, the importance of the happy client and is highly talented with the financial control and management of event budgets.
Tinny Tung - Event Director
Tri-lingual Tinny (English, Cantonese, Mandarin) was a professional badminton player and represented Hong Kong in various international competitions (including the Asian Games) for more than 10 years. She joined IMG in 2000 as an Event Manager and was involved with the management of many events, including the Mild Seven Outdoor Quest, Dalian Golf Invitational, Volkswagen China Masters Golf Tournament, the matches of Liverpool and Real Madrid in Hong Kong in 2003 and the China FA Cup (football). Tinny was also appointed as the Event Director of the IMG created Hainan Discovery Triathlon 2002-03 where she was responsible for the entire event production, including course design, government liaison work, budgeting, and client servicing. Tinny has worked as an independent contractor since January 2005 and has been involved with a wide range of sports event productions. These including being the Race Director of the Ironman China triathlon since 2008, ATP Champions Tour tennis tournaments in Hong Kong, being a consultant for an adventure TV program in China and being a Deputy Venue Manager for BOB during the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Tinny remains very close to IMG working on IMG projects on an annual basis. She worked with IMG on the Manchester United Asian Tour, China Open Tennis (2005 - 2009), the Venetian Macao Tennis Showdown extravaganzas (2007-2009), the ATP Champions Tour - Chengdu 2009 and the Malaysian Open, Kuala Lumpur 2009. Tinny is a proactive, highly intelligent, logical and analytical person with strong communication skills and is excellent at working with people of diverse backgrounds and nationalities.
Zalina Zahir - Event Director
A veteran producer of Golf and Tennis events, KL based Zalina Zahir brings with her over 15 years of international experience in the multi-faceted sports event industry. She spent 5 years with Asian Tour (known then as the APGA Tour) in Player Services and Event Operations working on over 200 different events across Asia and Europe. Upon joining IMG in 2000, Zalina was tasked with running all of IMG's productions in Malaysia, including some of the country's marquee events, such as the Mild Seven Outdoor Quest adventure race for 3 years, the World's Strongest Men and Women in 2002 and most recently, the successful "Showdown of Champions, Kuala Lumpur", featuring IMG clients Roger Federer, James Blake, Bjorn Borg and John McEnroe. Zalina is a core member of the Malaysian Open, Kuala Lumpur team. Known for her efficiency, organisational skills and ability to co-ordinate well with her fellow Malaysians, some of her key roles in the various events have included client servicing, event operations, host venue co-ordination, player management and government liaison work. She writes and speaks fluent Bahasa Malaysia and English.
Paul Moreno íV Technical Director
On his second year at the Malaysian Open, Paul brings a lifetime of experience in tennis, coming from a family of tennis players (his father was a junior national coach for Hong Kong, and his sister one of the few professional tennis players from Asia) and over 10 years experience in sporting events management.
Beginning as a ballboy at the Seiko Super Tennis series in the mid-80's, Paul worked his way up to court services at the Salem Open in the early 90's and finally, joined the event organizers working on various event operational duties and capacities from 1994 - 1997. This gives him a unique position of having worked on numerous aspects of on-court tournament operations.
Upon graduation, Paul joined IMG's event operations team in Hong Kong, gaining exposure to a wide variety of events in varying capacities across Asia: motor racing, volleyball, badminton, golf, licensing services, extreme sports and adventure sports. Paul's highlights include the Asian Festival of Speed, Philip's X-rage extreme sports Asia Tour, the Four Square white water rafting challenge, and the Hong Kong legs of the Manchester United, Liverpool and Real Madrid Asia Tours.
He was also a member of the Mild Seven Outdoor Quest event team - IMG's flagship adventure racing event, serving as Race Logistics Director in 2002 and 2003. Paul was also one of only three staff to have served on all eight years of the events' illustrious history.
A fan of adventure travel, Paul spent 3 years as Vice-President of WildChina, a luxury travel firm based in Beijing, creating one-of-a-kind travel programs to off-the-beaten-path destinations across China for individuals, institutions and corporations. With his passion of sports still strong, Paul spear-headed WildChina's Olympic hospitality touring service operations, working with major sponsors of the games in designing unique client touring programs to enhance their guests' overall Olympic experience.
Lim Kok Wye íV Director of Logistics
Lim Kok Wye has 10 years of Malaysian sports science and event management experience. With an honours degree in Exercise Physiology & Athletic Training, Sports Psychology and Sports Management from the University of Malaya (UM), he started his career as an Exercise Physiologist with the National Sports Institute, National Sports Council of Malaysia (NSC). Since the end of 2006, Lim has been with a local event management company working in the areas of Event Operations, Ticketing, Event Marketing and Management. Prior to joining the local company, he spent 2 years in management with the Badminton Association of Malaysia working as High Performance Manager and Project Manager (Badminton) focusing on the Doha 2006 Asian Games Project in conjunction with the National Sports Council of Malaysia (NSC). It was at this event that Malaysia won its first gold medal in badminton (the men's doubles) after a lapse of 36 years. During his tenure with BAM/ NSC, he was also appointed also as the Team Manager for the All England 2006 (badminton Championships), the Swiss Open 2006 and was the Assistant Team Manager for the Thomas and Uber Cup 2006 (Tokyo), Indonesian Open and World Championships 2006 in Madrid, Spain. Lim began his transition into events at the end of 2006 when he was actively involved in the management of the Proton Malaysia Open 2007 (badminton) and Asian Badminton Champs 2007 (badminton). He then managed the venue for the World Championships 2007 (badminton) and also the Malaysia Independence Tennis Festival 2007 which featured Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Pete Sampras and Richard Gasquet. In 2008, he continued to enrich his involvement with tennis, where he managed the venue for the historic matches in Malaysia featuring Roger Federer, James Blake, Bjorn Borg and John McEnroe. In 2009, he spent most of his year working on the Proton Malaysian Open - Kuala Lumpur 2009, an ATP World Tour 250. And he still spends most of his time on the Blackberry.
Robecta Yeung íV Marketing / TV Director
Robecta Yeung has experience in sport marketing for over 15 years and speaks fluent Cantonese, Mandarin and English. She has worked for various professional sports events throughout the Asian region in countries that include Hong Kong, Taipei, Bangkok, Beijing, Chengdu, Kuala Lumpur, Osaka and Seoul.
She has been involved in different aspects of sport event management such as operations, client servicing, media management, event advertising and marketing, budgeting, ticketing, website development as well as television production coordination.

Angela Archer - Player Services Director
Angela has been working in the sports events industry since graduating in 2004. She started in the Player Services department for the WTA Tour Bank of the West Classic Tennis Tournament in Stanford, CA. In the past few years, Angela has worked for numerous golf and tennis tournaments and exhibitions including the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami Florida; The China Open in Beijing; the HSBC Champions in Shanghai; the Watsons Water Challenge HK, The Chengdu ATP Champions Tour and the Showdown of Champions Kuala Lumpur & Venetian Macao Tennis Showdown special events featuring Pete Sampras, Roger Federer, John McEnroe, James Blake and Bjorn Borg. Her experience in event management covers a variety of areas from player hospitality to pre-tournament logistics, overseeing many facets including accommodation arrangements, transportation, operations, security, media relations, official functions, hospitality requests as well as players and agent liaisons.
Alongside tennis and golf tournaments, Angela is also involved with Corporate Hospitality Programs for the Olympics Games as well as FIFA Football World Cup. In 2008 Angela spent most of her year in Beijing working on the adidas Olympics Hospitality Program for the Summer Olympics as the Account Manager for a 1200-guest program. Angela also took part in the OMEGA Olympics Hospitality Program for the 2010 Winter Games in Whistler, Canada.
Angela is currently working on the 2010 FIFA Football World Cup hospitality program with the first Chinese sponsor in World Cup history. She will be helping to manage all aspects and departments of the program which will take place this June and July in South Africa. Following the World Cup, Angela will rejoin the professional tennis and golf community and is set to continue being a major part of sporting events.
Ghaz Ramli - Local Media Director
Formerly a sports journalist with the Malay Mail, Ghaz Ramli switched sides to the public relations area and specialises in sports. Ramli has covered various major sporting events including the 2005 Manila SEA Games and thee 2007 Korat SEA Games.
The 28-year-old has also covered events from Formula 1, MotoGP and A1GP right down to the Formula BMW. He was recruited by Astro All Asia Broadcast to be it's news editor during the station's coverage of the 2006 Commonwealth Games, the 2006 Doha Asian Games, the 2006 World Cup, Euro 2008 and the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
Originally from Ipoh, Malaysia, Ghaz who specializes in motorsports is currently the press officer for a number of single seater teams and drivers most notably Fahmi Ilyas (Formula BMW Europe) and Sazlan Sirajudin (Formula Renault UK). He was employed by the Sepang International Circuit as the media coordinator for the highly successful 2009 Formula 1 Malaysian Grand Prix. His service is also sought by Motorsports Asia and the Motorsports Association of Malaysia.
Brooke Boger - International Media Director
Melbourne based Brooke Boger has been working within media, public relations and communication roles for the past eight years. During this time she has been based in the UK, Canada and Australia and has worked within the travel and tourism, aviation and major events industries, before transitioning to sport two years ago when she started working for Tennis Australia.
In her current role, Brooke is responsible for coordinating and implementing media and publicity plans across a range of Tennis Australia events, programs and initiatives. This includes, but is not limited to, the Australian Open, Australian Open Series events (Brisbane International, Medibank International Sydney and Moorilla Hobart International), the Davis Cup and Fed Cup. During this time she has fostered strong working relationships with the ATP, WTA and ITF, both national and international media, key sponsors, various tennis federations and community members.
She exclusively looks after media operations and publicity for the Brisbane International and is the Media Manager for the Australian Fed Cup team. In this role Brooke travels with the team, nationally and internationally, handles all media requests, publicity and media operations and manages all requests for Australia's women tennis players throughout the year.
Shirley Man íV On Court Activities Manager
Shirley Man has been involved in the sports television broadcast industry since 1994 working for ESPN STAR Sports as Producer/Director for over 12 years. Shirley helped bring in the inaugural English Premier League and Champions League Football to millions of households in the region through both LIVE transmissions and magazine shows.
She also spearheaded the production of sports news programs at ESPN in 1998, producing ANZ Sportsline which later became ESPN SportsCenter.
Besides football and news, Shirley has also produced and directed a wide range of sports programs such as Grand Slam Tennis, Golf Majors, Formula One, Badminton, Table Tennis and Cricket in English, Mandarin and Cantonese.
Shirley has also produced numerous on-location/outside broadcasts. Some of these include the Wimbledon Championships, US Open Tennis, Tour de Taiwan Cycling, Asia Cup Football the World Pool Championship in Taipei and Shajah Cup Cricket (UAE).
In 2008, Shirley was appointed the Deputy Broadcast Venue Manager by the Beijing Olympic Broadcasting (BOB) at the Qingdao Sailing Center, the biggest venue at the 2008 Games. She is also on the Ironman China (triathlon) Organizing Committee where she serves as Director of Transportation & Aid Stations.
Shirley has worked with IMG since 2005 on projects that include the Manchester United Asia Tour (Beijing), The Macao Venetian Tennis Showdowns, Chengdu ATP Champions Tour, HSBC Charity Golf Days and the Malaysian Open, Kuala Lumpur.
Sheena Sheikh-Freyer íV Upper Player Lounge Manager
Sheena hails from Malaysia and has 22 years of hospitality experience working in the hotel and airline industries. Sheena has worked on IMG tennis and multi-sport events in China and Malaysia since 1998.
Currently she is a freelance personal health and fitness trainer based in Hong Kong. She enjoys all kinds of sports including tennis, running, weight-lifting, kayaking, diving, including world travel as well as photography (under and above water) and perfecting the art of gluten free baking.
Susan Yahng íV Lower Player Lounge Manager
Susan Yahng's involvement with tennis tournaments started shortly after she was relocated to Hong Kong from Boston, Massachusetts in the mid 90s. From the Salem Open & Marlboro Championships, to the Watsons Water's International, which is now the Hong Kong Classic and Champions Tour events , she has developed valuable expertise in working in the Player's Lounge, with special emphasis on practice court allocation! Susan is very happy to be part of the Malaysian Open, Kuala Lumpur team and looks forward to the 2010 event.
Tom Reed - Court Services Manager
Tom joins the Malaysian Open team as Head of Court Services for the second year. He got his first taste of international tennis events as a ballboy in ATP and exhibition events in Hong Kong before volunteering in Court Services at age 13. Tom went on to work in Court Services for such events as the ATP Salem Open, the Marlboro Championships and the Watsons Water Champions Challenge and also at Wimbledon. After graduating with a law degree from Durham University, Tom worked as Event Co-ordinator and later Operations Manager, undertaking a wide range of operational and PR & marketing related roles at the Hong Kong Tennis Classic, JB Group Classic and Watsons Water Champions Challenge events in Hong Kong from 2006-2010, featuring stars such as Maria Sharapova, Kim Clijsters, Ana Ivanovic and Venus Williams. He also assisted with the PR operations on the Venetian Macao Tennis Showdown series of events from 2007-2009, featuring Federer, Sampras, Agassi, Borg, and McEnroe. Tom is a keen tennis player himself and hits the court whenever he has the chance.
Ron Angle - Official Tournament Photographer
Ron Angle has been a professional photographer for 21 years but for the last 16 years his concentration has been at the highest levels of world tennis. He covers each one of the four majors, Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon and the US Open and attends Davis Cup and Fed Cup ties, Masters 1000 tournaments on the ATP World Tour and Premier level events on the WTA Tour.
His images are used by major publications globally including Sports Illustrated, as well as on sports and tennis internet sites and at tournaments. Ron has a very strong working relationship with most of the biggest and most important sporting goods manufacturers and has been the official photographer for: Lacoste, Nike, Reebok and Babolat. He is also the photographer for Sega Games.
Ron is the sole contributor and visual editor for Andy Roddick's website and Marcos Baghdatis' website and is a contributor to Serena Williams' website.
Radzi Zahir - Volunteer Manager
An ex-banker in Malaysia for 15 years, with a passion for tennis for as long as he can remember, it was only natural for Radzi Zahir to be part of the Malaysian Open ATP 250 team, once the tournament was secured for Kuala Lumpur. Radzi will again join the team as the Volunteer Manager, a position where he supervises 90 staff working across all areas of the event, to ensure a smooth flow of manpower throughout the tournament. The 41-year-old is also "Mr. Fun" in the management team and believes that the spirit of teamwork and a positive attitude are vital in making the tournament a fun place to be, regardless of if you are enjoying the tennis as a fan or part of the working team.
Tobias Meinken - Videographer
His lifelong fascination with sports resulted in an University degree in Physical Education, before he left Germany to explore the world. Hunting the endless summer through the Caribbean, Tobias called Costa Rica his home for more than 10 years. It was in these marine life filled waters, where he developed from being a beginner diver snapping some still images into a professional scuba instructor shooting high definition video.
Since moving to Spain, he created his own video production company called Four Elements Video. One of his great passions is still the fine art of underwater videography, but Tobias doesn't want to limit himself to the marine world. His new home offers a wide variety of imaging possibilities, from nature to culture, from music to sports.
Equipped with a fully mobile high definition video production suite, Tobias will (almost) go anywhere to capture beautiful and energetic images with his organized calm and create videos bearing his unique wit as a signature icon.
Lina Teoh - Event Emcee
Former Miss World 2nd runner up, Lina Teoh has over 15 years experience in the entertainment and television industry as a model, TV presenter, actress, radio presenter and emcee. She is also a passionate documentary filmmaker and is involved in many aspects of the production process including research, story development, writing, producing and directing. Lina is currently producing a new 1-hour documentary for the National Geographic Channel and has recently produced an episode on "Sun Tzu's War on Business" for the BBC. Other production credits include "Among the Great Apes with Michelle Yeoh", a 50 minute Hi-Definition documentary for the National Geographic Channel (producer), "The Lion Dance King" for the Discovery Channel (writer/ producer/ director) and the "Smart Tunnel" for the National Geographic Channel (associate producer).
Janet Tang - Sponsor Hospitality Suite Manager
Janet Tang is the Event Manager, IMG Tennis, Asia, and has been with the company since 1997. Based at IMG's tennis headquarters in Hong Kong, she is responsible for administration and marketing work related to the IMG tennis Division in Asia and in this capacity has been involved with all of IMG's tennis productions over the last 13 years. She has comprehensive experience in sports management, event sales & marketing, player service support and corporate hospitality.
She speaks fluent Mandarin, Cantonese and English. Janet helped produce many of the documents relating to the tournament bid document and as such, she has been involved with the tournament since before its inception.
In addition to tennis, Janet has over her tenure been involved with hundreds of events which include the Mild Seven Outdoor Quest adventure race (1998-2004), the Hainan Discovery Triathlon 2003-2004, the musicals Chicago, Riverdance, Miss Saigon, Singin' In The Rain, golf events such as the Zung Fu, Diners Club and Credit Suisse Golf Days, Deutsche Bank Invitational and China Open tennis events in Beijing, the Venetian Macao Tennis Showdown tennis spectaculars 2007-2009 and the Chengdu Open, China's First ATP Champions Tour tournament.
In addition to her year round marketing support role for the tournament, Janet manages the corporate hospitality lounge and sales as well as hotel player transport desk at the Malaysian Open, Kuala Lumpur.
