Volunteers play a significant role in the success of the Malaysian Open, Kuala Lumpur. Being a Malaysian Open, Kuala Lumpur volunteer is fun and rewarding. We would love to have your involvement and contribution.

General requirements for all volunteer positions
All positions require interactions with people therefore all volunteers should be friendly, helpful and hospitable. English is a must in most areas, other language skills are a plus. All applicants must be years 18 or above. Flexibility to work for the duration of the periods mentioned is appreciated.
  • Tournament Office
    Main responsibilities are to assist in the tournament office to answer phones and provide tournament information & local knowledge to guests and Officials. English and general office skills required.

  • Information / Programs Booth
    Main responsibilities are to provide tournament information to guests and patrons, assist with any enquiries and sell Tournament Programs & daily draw sheets. Enthusiastic personality and excellent people skills needed.

  • Media
    Main responsibilities are to assist local and international Media Centre staff with daily operations in the media centre & interview room. English and general office skills required.

  • Player Services
    Main responsibilities are to assist Player Services Department with daily operations on-site or at the hotel and to provide tournament & local knowledge to Players and their guests. English is a must and other languages are appreciated.
    Period: September 18 – 29, 2013
  • Volunteer Services
    Main responsibilities are to assist volunteers with uniform distribution; daily check-in and check-out procedures; distribute meal tickets; and assist volunteers with any needs. Office and excellent organizational skills is a must.
    Period: September 17 – 29, 2013
  • Transportation
    Main responsibilities are to assist the Transportation Manager to ensure all vehicles run according to scheduled times for players and officials on-site or at the hotel. English is a must and excellent local knowledge is a plus.

  • Transportation – airport based
    Main responsibilities are to assist the Airport Leader to ensure all Players, Officials and Staff are picked up upon arrival and assist with any needs at the airport. English is a must and excellent local knowledge is a plus.
    Period: September 17 – 25, 2013
  • Court Services
    Main responsibilities are to assist the Court Services Department with daily maintenance of courts as well as rooms within the venue. English is a must and physically strong applicants will be considered first.
    Period: September 18 – 29, 2013
  • Credential
    Main responsibilities are to assist Credential Manager to prepare, organize and distribute credential passes on-site or at the hotel. Basic computer skill is a must.

  • Entertainment / Interactive Area
    Main responsibilities are to help with set-up and take-down and will assist with activities and crowd management in entertainment areas including speed serve, Wii games, mini tennis, etc. Enthusiastic personality is needed.

  • Special Events / Promotion
    Main responsibilities are to assist On-Court Entertainment Manager to operate all on-court special activities and ceremonies. Enthusiastic personality is needed.

In return we ask the following Commitment from you:

A minimum of SEVEN (7) SHIFTS OF SIX HOURS minimum each. (you may double up your shifts to commit to fewer days)

Attendance to the training session(s) for the area you have been assigned to is a must. You will be notified of the date and time that you will be required to attend.
