Kuching stages ITF World Junior Tour J300 Premier Sarawak Cup

Kuching hosted the 44th Premier Sarawak Cup, an ITF World Junior Tour J300 event, bringing seeded under-18 players from across Asia to the SLTA Centre.

The J300 grade sits among the higher tiers of the ITF’s junior circuit, carrying significant ranking points and attracting strong fields. As is typical at that level, several of the top seeds — including the boys’ top seed from Japan — advanced via first-round byes before the draw reached its decisive stages.

Malaysia’s lone entrant, Daania Daniella Hazli, exited in the opening round, losing 3-6, 3-6 to China’s Shang Fangyu. The early exit aside, her presence in a J300 main draw reflects her place among the country’s leading juniors.

The week-long event built towards the doubles finals on the Saturday and the singles finals on the Sunday, underlining Sarawak’s continuing role as a regular host of international junior tennis in the region.
